Barn Door Meets Happy Birthday Gorgeous

The Barn Door Bundle has some wonderful greetings as you saw in last week’s post.  But sometimes I like to mix things up add in different stamp sets.  In today’s card I used sentiments and flowers from the beautiful stamp set Happy Birthday Gorgeous.

What a fun birthday card to give!  It has a both sentiments on the front of the card so the inside has plenty of room for writing a note.

This card was actually inspired by the February My Paper Pumpkin.  If you look closely, you can see the card base and the card front are from the kit.  I loved the subtle striped design plus it was easy!  The pieces were ready to go!

I hope you give this idea a try and do a little mixing and matching with your stamp sets…including My Paper Pumpkin!

Party Hat

I love things that shimmer and today’s card is chock full of it!  I pulled out the June My Paper Pumpkin kit again last night and created a birthday card with the contents.  This time the card showcases the kit and how fun it is to work with.

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 becreativewithnicole

Instead of a banner, I made a party hat with a cello triangle.  Can I just tell you how much I LOVE the sequins from this kit??  Actually, I really love all the contents of this kit and I haven’t tried them all!  There are still gold letters that I haven’t even touched yet!

June 2016 MPP

The whole thing was easy to put together.  But let me give you a tip.  I decided to emboss the sentiment in gold at the last minute so it would coordinate with the card better.  Well, the problem was I had already put the cello hat on.  When I heat embossed the heat from the heat gun started to melt the cello a bit at the top despite my efforts not to!  So if you want to make this card, emboss first, then add the hat!  The hat was quite simple to make.  Just pour in a bunch of sequins then seal the triangle shut with the washi tape from the kit.  Once that was done, I cut a piece of gold shimmer paper with fringe scissors and added it the the bottom with tear tape to give the hat sparkle.  When attaching the hat to the card, I only used tear tape at the bottom where the glimmer paper can hide it and at the top over and under the bit of fringe.  Even though that’s not much adhesive, the hat stays in place nicely.

I hope you will give this card a try, so much fun to make!  I still have a few more ideas for the June kit, so be sure to come back and see what I’ve come up with.

Congrats Grad

I’ve been having lots of fun working with the March My Paper Pumpkin Kit! This weekend I gave you ideas for a tea cup card and a set of tags.  Today I have another card to share combining the kit with BIRTHDAY BLOOMS.

March My Paper Pumpkin becreativewithnicole

This time I kept with more of the look that the kit intended.  I used the speckled paper for the card front and added the sentiment.

March Paper Pumpkin becreativewithnicole

The background has Soft Sky Birthday Blooms stamped at the top of the bottom like I did with this card from last week.

My Paper Pumpkin becreativewithnicole

And as always, I stamped the envelope to coordinate with the card.  Wouldn’t this be an elegant way to say congratulations to the graduate in your life!

Picture Perfect #GDP028

I’ve been enjoying the inspiration over at the Global Design Project, so this week I did a card for the challenge #GDP028.

Picture Perfect becreativewithnicole.com

I went with a beachy feeling watercolor using PICTURE PERFECT.  I just love the starfish, so I used the layout from the challenge for my inspiration.

GDP028 Jess Williams CASE

This week the idea is to selectively edit and do a card with this design from Jessica Williams.  I chose to use a similar layout for mine.

starfish Picture Perfect

I pulled the striped Bermuda Bay paper from the March My Paper Pumpkin Kit.  It was the perfect bright color to contrast the Sahara Sand card base and softly water colored starfish.

Picture Perfect becreativewithnicole

Over the starfish I added a bit of vellum cardstock with the sentiment stamped in black.  And to keep with the layout, I added a bit of thick white twine to the left side as a finishing touch.

Picture Perfect becreativewithnicole.com

I loved this week’s challenge so much, that I made a second card with a bit of a different take on the layout that I’ll share next!  Bet you can’t guess which stamp set I used (hint…you’ve seen a lot of it since it’s a fav)!

More Paper Pumpkin

How about one more alternate idea for the week?  I sat down with the November My Paper Pumpkin and a few left overs from cards this week and came up with this.

November Paper Pumpkin alternate

A very simple design that was SO easy to do since all the pieces were already there for me!

MPP close up

I used the card base and Cherry Cobbler paper from the kit and added in a couple of die cuts from Sleigh Ride and Christmas Greetings thinlits.  Even the gold shimmer star was already done…the card took about 7 minutes which is awesome!

Paper Pumpkin Thank You

I needed a thank you card, so I sat down with the November My Paper Pumpkin to see what I could come up with.

Paper Pumpkin Thank you by becreativewithnicole.com

The Winter Wonderland Vellum Stack was out on my desk, so I pulled a couple of designs out and looked to see what might fit with the kit supplies.  The gold pine cone design turned out to be a beautiful overlay for the neutral card base.

MPP Thanks

For the sentiment, I looked to my favorite set Cottage Greetings.  The “thanks” fit just right in the polka dot square from the kit.  I added a Cherry Cobbler matting by cutting down the one they provided.

November MPP becreativewithnicole.com

I did a little embellishing as well.  A bit of gold cording behind the sentiment plus a few sprigs of holly.  They added a bit more color and interest.

If you missed the first card alternative, click HERE to check it out.  I’ll be working on some more ideas for you this week so be sure to stop back!  If you haven’t tried out My Paper Pumpkin, what’s holding you back?  Give it a shot, it’s so nice to have a little surprise in the mail once a month!

November My Paper Pumpkin

I got a chance to dive into the November My Paper Pumpkin and have a slightly different version to share with you today.

November MPP becreativewithnicole.com

I love how festive the colors are, the Cherry Cobbler envelope is a beautiful compliment to the card.

MPP November

For this first card, I went with the original layout for this particular design, just changed up the sentiment.  Since there wasn’t as much color in the center as the original, I added a Cherry Cobbler matting.  The best part about these kits is how simple they make it for you!  The holly leaves are die cut, just pop them out and add them to the card.  And they think of everything, there were tiny little dimensionals that fit the holly leaves perfectly!

MPP becreativewithnicole.com

This kit was a fun way to jump back into stamping after a week of moving, it helped get my mojo going!  I’m going to sit down again with the November My Paper Pumpkin and see what else I can come up with, so check back this week for more ideas!  If you haven’t given this great way to stamp a try, I ask you WHY NOT??  It’s so nice to sit and just create, all the supplies and ideas are already there for you.  To sign up and give it a try, just click HERE.
