Spooky Fun Mini Treat Bag

Today’s idea is one that I’ve been thinking about for a few days now and finally got a chance to make last night.  I’ve combined SPOOKY FUN with a MINI TREAT BAG to create a Halloween card.

Have you notice that I’m a bit obsessed with the MINI TREAT BAG cards???  I think this is the third one this week….but they are just so fun to create!

spooky-fun-mini-treat-bag-card-becreativewithnicole-com

I thought it would be cool to have a scene inside the treat bag that you can see through the window.  I used vellum card stock to show a little preview of what’s inside.  If you look closely you can see the shadow of the tree through the window.

spooky-fun-window

The brick wall paper from the HALLOWEEN NIGHT DSP was the perfect design for the card.  I kept the outside pretty simple with just a few pumpkins and a sentiment.  The real fun is inside!

spooky-fun-window-treat-bag-card

Instead of ribbon or some sort of tab, I used the moon and witch to pull the card out….way too fun!  That little gem of an idea came at the very last minute as I was looking for one more element to finish off the card.

spooky-fun

With the coordinating die cuts, this all came together so easily!  I only had to add a little bit of stamping…this really only took me about 25 minutes or so from start to finish!  My favorite die cut from this is the spooky tree….it really sold me on this bundle.  What do you think?  Do you prefer stamps that have a coordinating set of die cuts?

I hope you enjoyed this tidbit of Halloween inspiration today!  Tomorrow I will have a fall idea for you as will the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team for our regular Saturday Blog Hop.

Color Fusers Blog Hop: September 2016 – Part 1

Welcome to the first week of the September COLOR FUSE BLOG HOP!  Twice a month on the first and third Monday’s we’ll be bringing you inspiration through color!  September’s hops will feature four gorgeous colors.

color fusers sept 2016

I picked a stamp set you may not have thought of for this set of colors.

Live Love Grow Mini Treat Bag becreativewithnicole.com

LIVE, LOVE, GROW is a favorite of mine!  I just love the sweet succulents and sentiments.  I know you would typically think of this set being in neutrals and greens, but I love the idea of throwing in a Sweet Sugarplum succulent along with the Mint Macaron plants.

Live Love Grow becreativewithnicole.com

To make this a beautiful but functional card, I added a birthday greeting inside along with a couple more succulents.

Live Love Grow

Let’s delve into the nitty gritty and talk about how all the colors from the challenge were used.  Obviously I love SWEET SUGARPLUM, I used it for the card base and one of the succulent plants.  It’s a great light purple that reminds me of the old Pale Plum that Stampin’ Up! had years ago when I first started stamping.  MINT MACARON comes into play with the other plants.  This pale green is such a lovely color and is a great stand out against the plum.  I added in the other two colors as accents.  FLIRTY FLAMINGO is used only with the ribbon for the inside card and the die cut “love” in my sentiment.  It works really well with the card and really adds that little bit of contrast that was needed.  Lastly, RICH RAZZLEBERRY was used with the small flowers on the largest plant.  I used the TREE BUILDER PUNCH to get the tiny flower that would work with the size plants in my terrarium.

Live Love Grow inside card

The inside is embellished a little with the lovely plants and a fun birthday greeting that is a combination of SUNSHINE SAYINGS and LIVE,LOVE,GROW.

Live Love Grow becreativewithnicole.com

If you haven’t tried these MINI TREAT BAG cards, I highly encourage you to!  They are a bit smaller than a typical card so even though they are more 3D, they still fit into the Stampin’ Up! envelopes.  It’s a great way to step up you card making for the WOW factor.  If you’d like to give this style of card a try, check out the supply list below and click on any of the items you would like to order or know more about.

Creation Station: New Holiday Products

Creation Station header

Welcome to the Creation Station Blog Hop for September!  This month we are sharing cards and projects with our favorite products from the NEW 2016 Holiday Catalog.  We have tons of ideas to share, so be sure to hop all the way around to see everyone has created!

Spooky Fun by becreativewithnicole.com

I personally look forward to the new Halloween sets and accessories every year.  It’s such a fun holiday to create cards and treats for.  I am loving the fun SPOOKY FUN Bundle that has a great stamp set and thinlits.

spooky fun bundle

My first idea was a fun little Mini Treat Bag card.  This was SUPER easy to put together yet so cute!

Spooky Fun Mini Treat Bag becreativewithnicole.com

The treat bag was made with the HALLOWEEN NIGHT DSP and the MINI TREAT BAG THINLIT.  A few die cuts and a just a little bit of stamping later, I had a fun card ready to go!  Wouldn’t it be great to give this card with a treat sized bag of M&M’s or some other little candy tucked inside.  With the clean and simple design of this card, you could easily make a bunch of these for a party!

Spooky Fun Treat becreativewithnicole.com

This sweet little BAKER’S BOX is another quick and easy way to give spooky little treats.  The box is quickly and easily embellished with the HALLOWEEN NIGHT DSP.  I cut out a strip of the houses and wrapped it all the way around the box…easy peasy!  A bat and a simple sentiment make this another quick and simple treat to make for lots of trick or treater’s this year.

Now that you have Halloween inspiration, let’s check out what the rest of the very talented Design Team has made.  The next stop is Sarah Klass and if you just started here, be sure to go back and see Jen Arkfeld.   As you are hopping through, leave comments to let us know what you think….we love to get your feedback!  Thanks so much for joining us this month for New Holiday Catalog Favorites!

Winter Wonderland

Welcome to the CREATION STATION BLOG HOP!  This month we are all about Christmas!  Are you ready yet?  I’m not…….I’m still in disbelief that it’s December so I am excited to see the ideas the team has for us today!

creation station hop header

One of my favorite sets in the catalog is WONDERLAND.  I love the elegant design and that it’s not just for Christmas.  For today, I combined it with the coordinating WINTER WONDERLAND VELLUM STACK to create a card and set of vellum gift tags.

Winter Wonderland by becreativewithnicole.com

I started out with the idea to use the WINTER WONDERLAND VELLUM STACK for a mini treat bag to fill with tags.

Mini Treat Bag by becreativewithnicole.com

The pine cone vellum is my favorite design, so I created the MINI TREAT BAG with it.  A couple of simple embellishments were just the right touch.  Sometimes less is more!

Vellum tags by becreativewithnicole.com

Next, I punched five different designs of vellum with the SCALLOPED TAG TOPPER PUNCH.

Sleigh Ride Tags by becreativewithnicole.com

I tried to keep each of the tags simple and coordinated.  So in comes the SLEIGH RIDE EDGELITS and CHRISTMAS GREETINGS THINLITS.  The two work so well together and made the tags come together easily.

Wonderland by becreativewithnicole.com

I think this set of tags would make a lovely gift, so I made a card to give with it.  I did another version of the BOKEH CARD from a few weeks ago.  This time I used gold accents to coordinate with the tags and added in a SNOWFLAKE ELEMENT.

Bokeh technique becreativewithnicole.com

For this subtle bokeh effect, I brayered Smokey Slate on Whisper White then added in Whisper White craft ink for the circles.  I used the same template I made for the first card.  Just take a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of scrap cardstock and punch different sizes of circles to use for sponging.  To blend it all in, I went over the whole piece again with the brayer.  This gives a soft and finished look.

Winter Wonderland by becreativewithnicole.com

I hope you’ve enjoyed my ideas and are ready to dive into your WINTER WONDERLAND VELLUM STACK!  Now it’s time to head over to Julie Beltramo to see what she’s done for Christmas today.

Washi Tape Gifts

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring FALL GIFTS.

create blog hop badge

I went a little crazy and made a bunch of WASHI TAPE LEAVES which I used to embellish my gifts.

Washi Tape gifts by becreativewithnicole.com

I just LOVE all the color in these gifts!  A little washi tape can go a long way in adding color and fun to your projects.

Washi tapeleaf by becreativewithnicole.com

Just add strips of washi to a piece of cardstock in any design you like.  Then simply die cut a leaf or any other shape, easy peasy!!!

Washi leaf by becreativewithnicole.com

This first leaf was the perfect embellishment for my half size MINI TREAT BAG.  I layered on a bit of gold cording then added the leaf with dimensionals.  I also added in a sentiment by die cutting “grateful” from the Seasonal Frames Thinlets set.  I used Blackberry Bliss cardstock, it stands out quite nicely from all of the colorful washi tape.

Washi leaves by becreativewithnicole.com

I could have stopped with the treat bag, it’s very cute on it’s own.  But theses leaves are so easy to make, I just kept going!  I ended up with three more leaves, all different shapes.  As with the clips I shared earlier in the week, I simply added washi tape to the clothespin then adhered the leaves with dimensionals.  There are TONS of great ways to use these clips!  I was thinking you could make a nice little place setting with these for the holidays.   Just add a sentiment or the person’s name and clip it to a fancy folded napkin.  I’d love for you to share some ideas you have, just leave me a comment and I’ll try some out!  Now, how about a quick list of supplies so you can give these gifts a try for yourself!

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS:  For All Things

PAPER:  In Color Envelope Paper, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White

INKS:  Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay

DIE CUTS:  Leaflets Framelits, Mini Treat Bag Thinlit, Seasonal Frame Thinlits

ACCESSORIES:  Happy Haunting Designer Washi Tape, Bohemian Designer Washi Tape, Gold Cording Trim, paper snips, Octagon Punch (to create banner ends), Dimensionals, Fine Tip Glue, clothespins

Let’s get ready for Halloween!

I don’t know about you, but I love little treats and decorations for Halloween.  I am already planning out some party ideas that I thought would be fun to share!

Halloween Party be becreativewithnicole.com

I’ve been busy as you can see!  It all started with the thought of doing a banner and I just kept going and going!

Banner by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

Each piece of the banner has different stamps and die cuts from the Howl-o-ween Treat bundle and was way more fun to create than I anticipated!  The panels are each 4″ x 6″ with the banner end hand cut.  I am actually working on a tutorial to release next week with the instructions for the banner and the treats so you can make your own!  UPDATE: YOU CAN FIND THE TUTORIAL HERE!

Now let’s check out all the treats.  I wanted a variety so there would be something for everyone’s taste.

Cookie envelopes by becreativewithnicole.com

I am well known for my chocolate chip cookies, so a cookie envelope was the first idea to come to mind.  They are 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and are just the right size for a cookie!  The envelope punch board made this a quick and easy project.  The hardest part was choosing which patterns of the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper to use!

Mini Treat Bags by becreativewithnicole.com

Next up, pixie stix!  Theses are a staple at Halloween in our house, so a quick and cute holder is a must have!  I went with a half size Mini Treat Bag and some die cuts, no stamping on this one!   The banner came from the Mini Treat Bag set of thinlits.  I added in “spooky” from the Seasonal Frames Thinlits and “Boo” from the Boo to You Framelits.

Next treat is a cute mini Berry Basket like the one Erica Cerwin made.

Mini Berry Basket by becreativewithnicole.com

I loved the idea of the smaller basket, anything mini is super cute!  It’s embellished with the skull and bones plus more Happy Haunting Designer Paper.

And I have one last goodie, this one is actually perfect for hanging the banner on your fridge or other magnetic service.

clothespin magnets by becreativewithnicole.com

These little guys are one of my favorite little 3D items.  Clothespin magnets are fun to embellish and easy to make!  For this pair, I just covered the the clothespin with Happy Haunting Washi tape and added magnets to the back.  The Boo to You framelits made the stamped images quick to die cut and add to the front with dimensionals.

One thing I did forget to mention is the awesome spider web doilies that are scattered through the projects and pictures.  These babies are so cool!  I added them as embellishments on my treats plus used them as actual doilies on my tablescape.  Definitely a must have item for Halloween!

Halloween Party be becreativewithnicole.com

I hope you are leaving today inspired to create!  Paper crafting for the holidays is such a rewarding experience!  Do you do paper crafting for the holidays? What is your favorite type of crafting?  If you need inspiration, there are lots of ideas here on my blog for Halloween and fall right now and I have lots more to come for Christmas!

Spooky Treat Bag

After sharing lots of MINI TREAT BAGS yesterday, I had to sit down and make more!

spooky pumpkin by becreativewithnicole.com

This is super cute and was soooooo easy to make!  I used SPARKLY SEASONS and the coordinating SEASONAL FRAME THINLITS.

Sparkly Seasons Bundle

I love having framelits for my stamps and when they are bundled at a 15% savings you can’t go wrong!!

Spooky by becreativewithnicole.com

The frame thinlit in the bundle is perfect for the front of the bag that I made from HAPPY HAUNTING Designer Series Paper.  I cut mine in Tangelo Twist and stamped a jack-o-lantern.  His cute little stem is die cut and partially paper pieced to give a green leaf and brown stem.  But my favorite part is the sentiment.  I die cut “spooky” in BLACK GLIMMER PAPER and stamped “greetings” below.  All in all, this bag only took about 15 minutes to make!
