Color Fuse July Logo

I almost went with a floral card, but I wanted to try using these colors in a different way.

I haven’t used BALLOON CELEBRATION much and it was calling out to me, so I gave it a try in a clean and simple way.

Balloon Celebration becreativewithnicole

I used bold black and white striped paper for a pop against the Peekaboo Peach card base.  The balloons are done with Flirty Flamingo with the black outline making them stand out nicely.  My favorite little detail though, is the pop of Cucumber Crush in the sentiment.  I love that unexpected bit of color at the end.

Peekaboo Peach Sunburst

I have a super fun card to share today combining a couple of my current favorite products, SWIRLY BIRD and the SUNBURST THINLIT.

Swirly Bird by becreativewithnicole.com

This card just makes me HAPPY!  I love the cloud pattern from the SHINE ON DSP.  I just got this specialty designer paper and now I’m wishing I’d bought it much sooner!  It’s so fun to use, the patterns are gorgeous!  This cloud paper is my favorite, I could use a whole pack of just it!

swirly bird

I think that I’ve found a new favorite color combo when making this card…..POOL PARTY and the new PEEKABOO PEACH In color.  Aren’t these just fantastic together??  The kraft cardstock works well with both colors too.  And the little touch of silver with the clouds and sequins makes this card perfect in my eyes!

Swirly Bird by becreativewithnicole.com

I used the SUNBURST THINLIT cut down to make a sun shape with one of the swirly stamps from SWIRLY BIRD in the center.  I went a little overboard with the small swirly stamp and created a background on the Pool Party card base.  I peppered some small stars on there as well from BALLOON CELEBRATION.  But the icing on the cake for me is the sentiment from SUNBURST SAYINGS.  I love the contrast of the white embossing on black cardstock against all the lighter colors.

As you can tell, I am having lots of fun with all the NEW goodies I just got in my New Catalog pre-order.  In fact, my card set for the MAY MINI SESSION from Create with Connie and Mary is complete and written up……I can’t wait for you to see it!  I have lots more to come to be sure to check back for the sneak peek I have coming up for the May Mini Session.

Number of Years

My little guy just turned 3 years old yesterday, so I have a fun post for you today.  I made a couple of birthday cards with NUMBER OF YEARS and show how adding just a few extra details really makes a difference!

Number of Years becreativewithicole

I started out with the simple card shown at the top.  I like the way it turned out, but it could use a little something more.

Number of Years simple becreativewithnicole

I love all the color on the card and the balloons give a fun whimsical feel.  This would be a great design for making a card quickly when you don’t have time for more detail.

Number of years stepped up becreativewithnicole

In this second card, you can see a more finished look by adding a couple of extra details.  I added a little extra pop of color by adding a Crushed Curry matting under the designer paper and the white circle.

Number of Years

I also added more color by using GORGEOUS GRUNGE to add a splash of Pool Party ink behind the number 3.  This is actually my favorite detail, it really made a big difference with just a small addition of color.  Lastly, I added color to the balloons.  I stamped the speckles on each balloon which took them to the next level.

Here’s my little guy getting ready to blow out the candles,he loved celebrating his birthday. In fact, he loved blowing out the candles so much we re-lit them three times!

What do you think about the versions of this card, do like the stepped up one better too??

Blackberry Bliss

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring the In Colors that will be retiring soon.  Today’s color is BLACKBERRY BLISS!

SpringBlogHopBadge

For a little inspiration, I pulled out the BOHEMIAN DSP and picked out a Blackberry Bliss pattern.

Party Pop Up becreativewithnicole

Isn’t this too fun!  I love the way Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda Bay compliment each other!  As you can see, I ended up with two patterns from the Bohemian DSP.  The one I used for the background reminded me of sprinkles which is just perfect for a birthday card!

Party Pop Up

To make the words from the PARTY POP-UP THINLITS really stand out, I added Bermuda Bay behind the die cut.  Even though the Hip Hip Hooray die cut covers most of the card, it still needed something.  So I grabbed the retiring set CUPCAKE PARTY.

Party Pop Up by becreativewithnicole.com

I used the coordinating BUILD A CUPCAKE punch to add a cupcake to the front of the card.  But I didn’t stop there, there is a cupcake on the envelope and inside the card too!

Cupcake Party becreativewithnicoleDid you notice that the sentiment from CUPCAKE PARTY rhymes with the sentiment on the front??  Isn’t it fabulous how so many of the stamp sets work together to create such fun cards!

Now, let’s get to the good stuff, the supply list so you can make your own fun filled birthday card!
