Incredible Like You

I was in water color mode again today and this time I used Incredible Like You for my card.

Aren’t these colors so serene?!  My color palette consists of Grapefruit Grove, Pool Party, and Pear Pizzaz.  The softness of all the colors just makes this card so perfect for a watercolor!

First step was to heat emboss the stripes in white on the watercolor paper.  From there I added color with an aqua painter and Pool Party ink pad.  Some areas came out darker which I really like.

The flowers are watercolor as well and fussy cut.  Each was stamped with Grapefruit Grove then softened with the aqua painter.  They are layered under and over the sentiment that is heat embossed on watercolor paper as well.

Final touches are always important.  Pear Pizzaz leaves came from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits in the main catalog.  I trimmed them down so they would neatly tuck under the flowers.  A couple of cute little wooden element butterflies add extra dimension and were FREE!  They came from the Butterfly Elements in the Sale-a-bration catalog that you get FREE with $50 product purchase.  Finally, a couple of sequins and a pretty envelope complete the look.

I have another example of watercolor with a new set from the Occasions catalog HERE if you’d like to see a couple of tips for watercolor.

Watercolor Cactus

If  you look at my recent posts, you may notice that I am really into the new Flowering Desert stamp set.  Today’s idea is a little different.  I went with water color using an aqua painter and ink pads.

I love the water color effect.  It’s soft and has beautiful color variations.  I achieved this look very easily with just a few steps.

I stamped the cactus with Lemon Lime Twist on water color paper.  Using the aqua painter, I went over the original image to get the initial water color look.  Then with Granny Apple Green I added in more color gradually shading from the left to right.  In areas that I wanted a darker bit of color, I waited until the area was dry then layered on more.

Once I had the color the way I wanted it, I used my Light Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend marker and added detail.

I added in a pop of color with Lovely Lipstick flowers on the cactus and a smaller plant in Shaded Spruce.  Last detail of the watercolor is a bit of sand using Soft Suede.  I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to use this card for, so the sentiment leaves it open for many things.  I used “Just a note…” from Home to Roost which you can get for FREE with a $50 product purchase!

Have you tried water color??  Give it a try if you haven’t!  It makes you feel like you are creating a painting!  I hope you are feeling inspired to try it out!  I have more ideas for Flowering Desert HERE and HERE to check out.  To shop for new spring products and earn FREE items, click on the shop link below.

Beautiful Sunset with Waterfront

I have found a new obsession….the amazing Waterfront stamp set.  I did lots of looking through Pinterest to see ideas before I gave this set a try.  I was a little intimidated since the set is so abstract.  But let me tell you, I just can’t stop now that I’ve started stamping!  And yes, I have made some horrible looking things and pitched them, but I’ve also done some beautiful ones as well.

This one started out with the Ohio sunset as inspiration.  At night lately I’ve been noticing the sky has tones of lavender and pink right before the sun goes down.  So I looked to my Stampin’ Up! colors and pulled out Wisteria Wonder, Fresh Fig and Powder Pink to try to re-create what I’ve seen.

The left side is a layered with my pinks and purples moving in on the blue sky on the right done in Pool Party.  I took an aqua painter to soften the lines and mellow things out.  Then added the sunset in Pumpkin Pie and the hills in Smokey Slate.

I went through my stamps to look for the right sentiment.  I wanted this card to be useful for anything, so I pulled “dream without limits, love without fear” from Picture Perfect.

I couldn’t stop there and leave the inside blank.  So I added soft hills in Smokey Slate and a few Pool Party clouds with a Peekaboo Peach sunset.

With all the ideas out there for Waterfront, I hope you enjoyed my Ohio sunset!  We do have the most beautiful evening skies and now that I am newly obsessed with this set, I will be paying more attention.  You may be seeing more variations of this in the future!

Cool Treats for CCMC452

I’ve been on a break for the last two months, but I’m starting to post cards again since I love stamping so much!  I’ve teamed up again with Create with Connie and Mary for the challenges they do on Thursdays and this week we have a beautiful color challenge.

CCMC452

So Saffron, Peek-a-boo Peach and Sahara Sand are gorgeous together, especially with spring starting.  I went with COOL TREATS and created a yummy orange creamsicle card.

Cool Treats becreativewithnicole.com

Peek-a-boo Peach is such a delicious color for COOL TREATS ice cream cones.  All of my family love orange creamsicle ice cream so this color combination was an easy one to work with.

Tasty Treats

I created a melted ice cream background using watercolor paper and an aqua painter with the Peek-a-boo Peach ink pad.  A few die cut sprinkles add some fun and we all know I love sprinkles and confetti!  Lastly, the sentiment was stamped on slender banners to layer below the ice cream.

Spooky Fun Watercolor

Remember the Galaxy Watercolor Technique that I shared awhile back??  Well, I gave this same technique a try for a spooky Halloween night scene.

spooky-fun-becreativewithnicole-com

I layered color onto watercolor paper to give a dark spooky night for my SPOOKY FUN Halloween card.  The picture doesn’t do the background justice, there are little bits of yellow and green showing through in areas to give this card a unique look.

spooky-fun

Most of the card consists of die cuts from the SPOOKY FUN BUNDLE.  I went with Night of Navy as my main color to do something a little different since I am always featuring black for this type of card.

Tomorrow I’ll show you how to do the background and see if I can come up with some better pictures to show how beautiful the watercolor looks.

Rainbows

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW.

Another fun theme for this month and another watercolor card to share!  I am officially obsessed with watercolor!  Now it’s been three Saturday’s in a row with this style of cards.

Over the Rainbow by becreativewithnicole.com

Tons of color of course for a rainbow themed card!  And every bit of color you see was done with ink pads and an aqua painter.

Over the Rainbow

The blue sky was created with Dapper Denim ink and allowed to dry while I worked on the other elements.  The word “RAINBOW” was next, it was heat embossed in black so the colors would stay put in each block letter.  Even the word “sunshine” was die cut from watercolor paper then Daffodil Delight ink was added.  I made some areas darker for the lovely contrast.

Over the Rainbow by becreativewithnicole.com

Raindrops Keep Falling

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we have a really fun theme, RAINDROPS KEEP FALLIN’ ON MY HEAD.

Another fun theme for this month and another technique to share!  I used watercolor paper again but in a different way.

Sprinkles of Life

Aren’t the rain drops fun!  They were created by sponging ink onto the watercolor paper then sprinkling water over top to remove some color.  It’s another great way to get more out of your products!

Sprinkles of LIf by becreativewithnicole.com

In this close up you can see the how the drops of water pulled the ink back off the paper.  Just take your aqua painter or any paint brush and tap it over your paper with a little water.  Then just use a paper towel to pull away the ink.

Sprinkles of Life

I kept the card simple to really show off the raindrops.  All I added was the sentiment and clouds from SPRINKLES OF LIFE.  Several silver foil paper raindrops over top added a bit of extra sparkle.  Can you see the shimmer on the clouds?  I used Glimmer paper and embossed in silver to make the clouds extra special.  Check out my supply list below and give this fun technique a try!

Dapper Denim

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  We are down to featuring the last of the new In Colors this week, DAPPER DENIM.

I went through all my new stamp sets and thought about the best way to showcase this fantastic new color.  In the end, I ended up with a clean and simple card featuring PLACES YOU’LL GO.

Places You'll Go by becreativewithnicole.com

As you can see, DAPPER DENIM takes center stage on this card.

Places You'll Go

The globe was so fun to create, it’s a little different from the rest of the card since it’s done on watercolor paper.  I love the contrast of it against the crisp regular cardstock.  If you don’t have (and use) an aqua painter, you must get one!  This is such a valuable tool!!!  It makes watercolor so easy!  After heat embossing the globe in white, I added color to the globe with the aqua painter being heavy handed in some areas to add a deeper shade of blue.  Once it was completely dry, I fussy cut the globe, added silver thread and popped it up on dimensionals.

Places You'll Go becreativewithnicole.com

In keeping with the crisp, clean look I kept the background to a minimum by adding just a few stars and a simple sentiment.  If you haven’t given this set a good look, go back and check it out!  The sentiments are fantastic and useful with many other stamp sets.

How about a supply list so you can create your own PLACES YOU’LL GO CARD……….
