Non Traditional Christmas Colors

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is NON TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS COLORS.

ccmfall3

I went with my favorite bokeh technique to create a beautiful sparkly card with SANTA’S SLEIGH.

santas-sleigh-becreativewithnicole-com

The softness of the Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White craft ink create a lovely background for the sparkly silver glimmer reindeer.

santas-sleigh

I added a punch of color with a Tempting Turquoise wreath and the sentiment embossed in black.  The sentiment was actually taken from CHRISTMAS PINES.  I liked the font and the size of the sentiment complimented the reindeer.

Swing on a Star

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we have a really fun theme, SWING ON A STAR.

All of our projects will have something to do with stars.  I actually have 2 cards to share today featuring the SHOOTING STAR BUNDLE!  I has so much fun with this technique that I had to make more than one!

Shooting Star becreativewithnicole.com

Now you can see why one wasn’t enough!  I has way too much fun with this technique that I learned from Wendy Cranford.  I had to change up the last bit of the process a little to use only Stampin’ Up! and it worked beautifully!

Shooting Star Galaxy Technique

This first card features the slider die cut where the star can shoot across the sky.  The galaxy watercolor technique makes the background so realistic!  I used watercolor paper (can you believe this was a pure white piece of paper!) and added LOTS of color!  The star was also done on watercolor paper so the colors would blend and look as beautiful as the galaxy background.

Shooting Star Galaxy Technique Spinner

Knowing full well that one card would not be enough, I made a WHOLE PAGE of this background!  Yep I just did a whole page that I could cut up into the sizes I needed.  A much more efficient way to go about making this type of card.  For this second card, I went with the spinner die cut and sent the world round and round!

Marquee Messages

I have a fun new take on the new stamp set MARQUEE MESSAGES…..I went METALLIC!

Marquee Messages becraetivewithnicole.com

I have been playing with the awesome FABULOUS FOIL DESIGNER ACETATE and was inspired to put together a card full of SILVER.

Marquee Messages

I went with Basic Gray and Smokey Slate as my coordinating colors.  When put together with silver, you get a fantastic metallic look.  The entire marquee is completely embossed in silver.  I did one on Smokey Slate and one of Basic Gray so I could cut out the arrow to pop up on dimensionals.  I added embossed sentiments as well to make sure they stood out.  To make the outlined sentiment bolder, I colored the letters in with markers.

Jar of Love

Clean and simple cards are a favorite of mine…love the open space and crispness!  Today’s card is all that using the new set JAR OF LOVE.

Jar of Love by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn’t this great!  Boldness from the Emerald Envy and Basic Black pop against the softness of the Crumb Cake and White.

Jar of Love becreativewithnicole

Best part, this was EASY to make!  I heat embossed the jar and sentiment in white….that’s it! The thing I spent the longest on was picking a sentiment!  I like all the sentiments from this set, but I ended up using one from FLOWER PATCH.   I love the bold lettering and the statement that it makes, really works for this card!

Jar of Love

The inside is simple as well with a coordinating sentiment from FLOWER PATCH and the leaves stamped in Emerald Envy.  The same leaves are on the envelope as well, you know I love to match!

Jar of Love by becreativewithnicole.com

What a fabulous stamp set!  Did you know JAR OF LOVE can be purchased in a bundle with the coordinating framelits??  You really need to check this one out, so many possibilities!

Party with Cake Funfold

I have a really FUN card for you today!  I am so loving PARTY WITH CAKE and wishing I’d ordered it sooner!

Party with Cake becreativewithnicole

Another bold card!  This stamp set is just so perfect for the bolder brighter look.  But wait until you see the inside!

Party with Cake becreativewithnicole.com

It’s a Pop Out Swing Shaker card!!  I originally make this type of card last fall and it was very popular.  If you’d like to see the original, click HERE to see the card and video with instructions.

Party with Cake

The original Pop Out Swing Shaker that I did had the typical shaker front with window sheet and dimensionals.  For this one I went with the flat shaker using VELLUM CARDSTOCK.  The bits and pieces inside the shaker were the cut outs from the die cuts that coordinate with the stamps called PARTY POP UP THINLITS.  I also added a few sequins inside and out.  The die cut sentiment was also from the left overs from die cutting.  It’s so fabulous to have a use for the intended die cut and the scraps…love it!

Party with Cake becreativewithnicole

I hope you enjoyed this card today, I sure had a blast creating it!  Give it a try for  yourself, this funfold card is so addicting!

A Blackberry Bliss Wonderland

I have fallen in love with WONDERLAND in the Holiday Catalog.  You can do so many GORGEOUS cards with this stamp set!

Wonderland by becreativewithnicole.com

See what I mean!  And even better is the fact that this card was pretty simple to make!  It actually has a couple of techniques that come together for the WOW factor.

Blackberry Bliss Wonderland

It all started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock if you can believe that!  I brayered on Blackberry Bliss ink with it being darker at the bottom and lighter at the top.  Once I was happy with how the ink looked, I stamped the trees with Black Archival ink.

Wonderland

I added in some of the beautiful WINTER WONDERLAND DESIGNER VELLUM and a couple of banners.  The Silver Foil banner has “Silent Night” embossed in silver for a lovely effect.  Before I forget, let me show you where the inspiration for this card came from.

Sketch 4TST

I used the sketch challenge from Try Stampin’ -or not- on Tuesday.  Now the vellum and banners will make more sense!

Wonderland in Blackberry Bliss by becreativewithnicole.com

Looking at the whole card again, you can see that I added more silver embossing to continue the sentiment in the lower right corner.  And as always there are sequins on this card, but you aren’t surprised!

So this card may look super difficult, but it’s really not!  If you are interested in seeing how I did this, let me know and maybe I’ll put together a quick video.

To find out more about this sketch challenge, visit Try Stampin’ -or not- on Tuesday where you’ll see more beautiful card samples from the Design Team.

Come back tomorrow for more samples from the October My Paper Pumpkin kit, I have 2 beautiful cards to share!

Soft Sky Woodlands

I keep finding myself coming back to the gorgeous WOODLAND EMBOSSING FOLDER for my fall cards. This time I went with a soft color using the brayer technique I shared with you.

Grateful for you by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn’t this simple but gorgeous!  Soft Sky and Tip Top Taupe make a beautiful combination on this card.  Not your typical fall color combo, but I am loving it!

Grateful for you

I used the brayer to add Soft Sky ink to the embossing folder to make a lovely background for the trees.  I also added a little color to the cracks of the trees with a Sahara Sand marker.  I think that little extra step makes the trees look more realistic.  I did the same thing HERE with another brayered card.

Grateful for you top view by becreativewithnicole

Since I wanted the beauty of the background to shine, the sentiment is a simple one.  “Grateful for you” from MERRY EVERYTHING was stamped with Early Espresso on Tip Top Taupe and die cut with a CIRCLE FRAMELIT.  I added a few dimensionals to the back with a bit of GOLD CORDING TRIM before centering it on the card.  And as always, a few GOLD SEQUINS are my finishing touch.

I still need to tell you about the inspiration for today’s card, the sketch challenge from Try Stampin’ -or not- on Tuesday.

TSTsept29

I used a little liberty with the sketch and didn’t go literal with the tails of the medal shape.  In place, I have the GOLD CORDING that swoops below the card in the same places.   You can join in the challenge too!  Just visit TST for more information and inspiration from the Design Team.

Color Smash Masculine Card

I sat down and played a little with two techniques from last week, COLOR SMASH and COLOR RESIST.  I went with a masculine look and a simple design.

Color Smash Masculine Card

I must confess, the card I originally envisioned turned out terrible!  It happens all the time, a vision doesn’t quite work in reality.  Well, that happened with this card!  I had planned on adding a butterfly over this background, but it was too busy and didn’t look quite right.  So, I improvised and added a simple sentiment turning this into a fantastic masculine card!

Color Smash with Butterfly Basics

The background has leaves embossed from Butterfly Basics then color added with the COLOR SMASH technique.  I only used two colors for the color smash, Mint Macaron and Wild Wasabi.  I added in a bolder sentiment in Mossy Meadow so it would stand out from the background.

Color Smash by Be Creative with Nicole

Of course I had to add a leaf to the envelope, I love to coordinate!  I also added a nice sentiment inside with the hostess set Happy Birthday Everyone but forgot to take a pic…oops!  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this masculine version and give these techniques a try!
