Howl-o-ween Banner Tutorial

It’s getting closer and closer to Halloween so now is the time to start crafting!  Last week I shared a post for a Halloween party using the fun HOWL-O-WEEN TREAT BUNDLE.

Halloween Party by becreativewithnicole.com

The centerpiece of the set was the banner made with HAPPY HAUNTING designer series paper and Howl-o-ween Treat Bundle.

Let’s get ready for Halloween!

I don’t know about you, but I love little treats and decorations for Halloween.  I am already planning out some party ideas that I thought would be fun to share!

Halloween Party be becreativewithnicole.com

I’ve been busy as you can see!  It all started with the thought of doing a banner and I just kept going and going!

Banner by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

Each piece of the banner has different stamps and die cuts from the Howl-o-ween Treat bundle and was way more fun to create than I anticipated!  The panels are each 4″ x 6″ with the banner end hand cut.  I am actually working on a tutorial to release next week with the instructions for the banner and the treats so you can make your own!  UPDATE: YOU CAN FIND THE TUTORIAL HERE!

Now let’s check out all the treats.  I wanted a variety so there would be something for everyone’s taste.

Cookie envelopes by becreativewithnicole.com

I am well known for my chocolate chip cookies, so a cookie envelope was the first idea to come to mind.  They are 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and are just the right size for a cookie!  The envelope punch board made this a quick and easy project.  The hardest part was choosing which patterns of the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper to use!

Mini Treat Bags by becreativewithnicole.com

Next up, pixie stix!  Theses are a staple at Halloween in our house, so a quick and cute holder is a must have!  I went with a half size Mini Treat Bag and some die cuts, no stamping on this one!   The banner came from the Mini Treat Bag set of thinlits.  I added in “spooky” from the Seasonal Frames Thinlits and “Boo” from the Boo to You Framelits.

Next treat is a cute mini Berry Basket like the one Erica Cerwin made.

Mini Berry Basket by becreativewithnicole.com

I loved the idea of the smaller basket, anything mini is super cute!  It’s embellished with the skull and bones plus more Happy Haunting Designer Paper.

And I have one last goodie, this one is actually perfect for hanging the banner on your fridge or other magnetic service.

clothespin magnets by becreativewithnicole.com

These little guys are one of my favorite little 3D items.  Clothespin magnets are fun to embellish and easy to make!  For this pair, I just covered the the clothespin with Happy Haunting Washi tape and added magnets to the back.  The Boo to You framelits made the stamped images quick to die cut and add to the front with dimensionals.

One thing I did forget to mention is the awesome spider web doilies that are scattered through the projects and pictures.  These babies are so cool!  I added them as embellishments on my treats plus used them as actual doilies on my tablescape.  Definitely a must have item for Halloween!

Spooky Pop Out Swing Shaker

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a shaker card so I was going through withdrawal and HAD to make one!

Spooky Pop Out Swing card by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn’t this spooky fun!!  I took a couple of shakers I’ve done in the past and combined the ideas to create a WINDOW FRAME POP OUT SWING SHAKER!  Now that’s a mouthful!!

Open Spooky Pop Out Swing Card by becreativewithnicole.com The window frame die from HEARTH AND HOME THINLITS makes the opening in the front of the card as well as the shaker!

Shaker Window by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

The card was made with lots of dark colors to give a Halloween feel.  The card base is Basic Gray with the window frame in Basic Black and the scene on Smokey Slate.  A few metallic sequins in the window give a little sparkle and the brick texture on the base gives depth.

Top view Spooky Pop Out Swing card by becreativewithnicole.com

The inside has a few cool effects too.  The spider in the corner and a border along the bottom with HAPPY HAUNTING Designer paper.  The scene in the window is so fun too, it’s the fall scene from the HAPPY SCENES stamp set.  Stamped it black it completes the spooky look I was going for!

You can easily make your own spooky shaker, just go to my VIDEO TUTORIAL for the Pop Out Swing Shaker and substitute the window frame thinlit for the square framelit.  You can also find more details about the first window frame shaker I made HERE.

I hope you enjoyed today’s shaker and give it a try!

Halloween Baker’s Box

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all about HALLOWEEN TREATS!

create blog hop badge

HOWL-O-WEEN TREAT is most definitely my favorite Halloween set this year.  I haven’t taken this set of my desk since I got it!  For today’s project, I used it to embellish a BAKER’S BOX.

Halloween Baker's Box by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

I used HAPPY HAUNTING Designer Series Paper to create the box.  I added a small square of Basic Black cardstock inside the box to reinforce the bottom….. I want to load this with tons of candy!!

Baker's Box by becreativewithnicole.com.jpg

Lots of embellishments make this quite a treat indeed!  A spider web doily created the background for the spooky skull and bones.  A little silver glimmer paper added sparkle to complete the look.  Did you notice the little bit of Bermuda Bay that I snuck in??  I added a small starburst made with one of the thinlits in the BAKER’S BOX set.  I think Bermuda Bay looks gorgeous with Tangelo Twist and Basic Black….a perfect Halloween color combo!

Here’s a list of products used for today’s Halloween Treat:

STAMPS:  Howl-o-ween Treat

INKS:  Memento Tuxedo Black

PAPER:  Happy Haunting DSP, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer

ACCESSORIES:  Baker’s Box Thinlit Set, Spider Web Doily, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (star punch), Bermuda Bay sequin trim, Mini Metallic Clothespins

Let’s get ready to check out the rest of the treats featured by the Design Team.  But first, did you know that the September Mini Session has a couple of BONUS ideas???  Yep, Connie and Mary did remakes of two of the tutorials with Christmas stamps….how cool is that!!  How about a sneak peek??

Spooky Treat Bag

After sharing lots of MINI TREAT BAGS yesterday, I had to sit down and make more!

spooky pumpkin by becreativewithnicole.com

This is super cute and was soooooo easy to make!  I used SPARKLY SEASONS and the coordinating SEASONAL FRAME THINLITS.

Sparkly Seasons Bundle

I love having framelits for my stamps and when they are bundled at a 15% savings you can’t go wrong!!

Spooky by becreativewithnicole.com

The frame thinlit in the bundle is perfect for the front of the bag that I made from HAPPY HAUNTING Designer Series Paper.  I cut mine in Tangelo Twist and stamped a jack-o-lantern.  His cute little stem is die cut and partially paper pieced to give a green leaf and brown stem.  But my favorite part is the sentiment.  I die cut “spooky” in BLACK GLIMMER PAPER and stamped “greetings” below.  All in all, this bag only took about 15 minutes to make!

A Spooky Season

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are all about HALLOWEEN CARDS!

create blog hop badge

SPARKLY SEASON was a set on my radar right away since it features more than one holiday.  I love sets like this that are multi-purpose!  It also comes as a bundle with the coordinating SEASONAL FRAME THINLITS which makes this a must have in my book!

Spooky Season by becreativewithnicole.com

Is this jack-o-lantern cute or what!  I used the chevron circle and face from the stamp set and added in the “spooky” from the thinlits.  I LOVE having words to die cut….so fun to use!

spooky pumpin with hat

There are lots of little details that come together to make this card work.  Softly sponged stars with a decorative mask was my first step.  Then I layered on Happy Haunting washi tape before adding the jack-o-lantern and sentiment.  I even dressed up the hat that I pulled from Howl-o-ween Treat.  I love how it’s a perfect fit!
