Not Your Normal Fall Card

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is NOT YOUR NORMAL FALL CARD.

ccmfall3

I wanted to do a crazy shape, but I don’t really have any die cuts that I thought would work out well.  So I went with a square spinner card featuring ACORNY THANK YOU.

acorny-thank-you-becreativewithnicole-com

Spinner cards are so easy now with the awesome new SLIDING STAR FRAMELITS.

sliding-star-framelits

This set of framelits coordinates with the SHOOTING STAR stamp set, but it’s not just for that!  I’ve shown you today that you can use the spinning die cuts for anything!

acorny-thank-you

The card base is 4 1/4″ x 8″ in Soft Suede folded in half to give enough room for the spinner.  I popped up the top layer with the FOAM ADHESIVE STRIPS (a serious must have!) and used washers for the spinner.

acorny-thank-you-spinner

I created a copper topped acorn with the ACORN BUILDER PUNCH and embossed the sentiment in copper to coordinate.  Love copper for fall!!

Fall is in the Air

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is FALL IS IN THE AIR.

ccmfall3

For my fall card, I went back to the Annual Catalog and combined an older set with a newer set.

wondrous-wreath-for-fall-becreativewithnicole-com

Isn’t it great when you can use a stamp set for multiple holidays!

wondrous-wreath

I kept it simple and used Crushed Curry with Cajun Craze to create a fall inspired wreath with WONDROUS WREATH and BANNERS FOR YOU.  I almost added in Pumpkin Pie, but decided against it in the end.  I did use Soft Suede as my third color for the card base and banner outline to give a little more depth to the card.

wondrous-wreath-for-fall-becreativewithnicole-com

To give a little more of a fall feel to the card, I added in LINEN THREAD to make a bow and hang the wreath.  This last little touch was just what the card needed!

Below is the supply list and color inspiration so you can create your own fall inspired card.

Time for Fall

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week our theme is COLORS OF FALL.

ccmfall3

I went clean and simple this week with designer paper as one of my main elements.

Acorny Thank You becreativewithnicole.com

Yes, I used Halloween paper, but it works…right?  I usually focus a lot on Halloween becuase it’s such a fun time of year to make cards.  So I always get the Halloween DSP and it’s nice to find another way to use it.

Acorny Thank You

This delicate polka dot design was perfect with Pumpkin Pie, Peekaboo Peach, Basic Gray and Smokey Slate.  And yes I know the Smokey Slate and Basic Gray are not true fall colors but I made it work!  I added copper thread to bring another note of fall and kept the gray extras to a minimum.  Overall, I’m quite happy with my Halloween DSP moonlighting as fall DSP!

If you’d like to give this a try, check out the supply list below.

SUPPLIES:

STAMPS:  Acorny Thank You

INKS:  Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie

PAPER:  Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray, Halloween Night DSP

ACCESSORIES:  Acorn Builder Punch, Copper Thread, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Trimmer, Bone Folder, SNAIL, dimensionals

Golden Grateful

There are two beautiful sets of vellum in the catalog, one of which is WINTER WONDERLAND.  It has black, gold and silver tones and is perfect for Christmas and winter cards.  But, I wanted to make a fall card with this lovely vellum and it worked beautifully!

Golden GratefulIsn’t this really rich looking!  Gold is a perfect match with the Soft Suede card base.

Grateful up close

Did you notice that there’s no stamping!!  This card is all about the Big Shot so it came together easily.

The inspiration for this card came from the sketch challenge at Create with Connie and Mary.

CCMC379

I love the simplicity of the design, so many options for your cards!!

Golden Grateful by becreativewithnicole.com

Once my card base was embossed, all I had to do was add a couple layers of vellum plus gold glimmer paper. With all the gold,  I needed a bolder greeting that would stand out.  “Grateful” die cut in Early Espresso did the job quite well.  It was bold enough to stand out, but it still was cohesive.

This would be a lovely card in Christmas colors, you could make a bunch to mail out quite easily.  Check back tomorrow for the last of the October My Paper Pumpkin cards that I made.  Sorry I didn’t get to share them last week as planned, life kinda took over!  See you tomorrow!

Creation Station Blog Hop: Thankful

Welcome to the CREATION STATION BLOG HOP!  This is my first month on the team and I am super excited to be a part of this AWESOME group of stampers!

creation station hop header

We are using fall sets this month with a THANKFUL theme and our feature product is WASHI TAPE.

I don’t know about you, but I hoard washi tape just like I hoard designer paper.  It’s been an ongoing process, but I am making an effort to use up (gasp!) the consumable supplies that I buy.  So, today I have used TONS of washi tape to show you how easy it is to actually use the fun accessories that you buy!

A about Washi by becreativewithnicole.com

I started out with a bunch of washi tape on my desk and thought about what kinds of fun little gifts I could make with things in my craft room.  So I dug through my drawers and came up with some coasters and tea candles.

washi coasters and tea lights

Using four colors of washi, I glammed up the plain goodies that I dug up.  The coasters are so quick to make, just apply strips of washi that overlap to the back.  I added self adhesive felt to the backs of the coasters for a nice finished look.  The tea candles were even easier, just a quick strip of washi around each then tucked them into a little ice cream dish for packaging.

washi gifts by becreativewithnicole.com

I placed all four coasters plus the tea candles in the dish into a gusseted cellophane bag and added some ribbon and a tag.  Once all the goodies were complete, I moved onto a card to give with them.  Funny enough, the card took more thinking than the gifts!  I wanted to do something different and have it coordinate with the gifts.  So, I ended up going clean and simple with a strip of each color of washi tape with a sentiment tucked in between.

So Grateful for You by becreativewithnicole.com

I went with Blackberry Bliss as the color for my sentiment and card base.  I love this new In Color, it’s so rich and beautiful!  With the other beautiful washi tapes, it makes this simple card really stand out!  I added in a little bling with a few gold sequins scattered over the card, gotta have my sequins!  And of course I coordinated the envelope, but not with a stamp, I added washi!

Grateful for Washi becreativewithnicole.com

I hope you’ve enjoyed my ideas and are ready to break out all of your washi stash!  Now it’s time to head over to Jennifer Downey to see what she’s done with washi and the thankful theme today.

Autumn Wishes

Today’s card has a lot of texture, but was quite easy to put together.

Woodland EF becreativewithnicole.com

With just one element stamped, the card is mostly constructed using the Big Shot.  Before we get the the nitty gritty of the card, let me show you the inspiration for it.

CCMC378

The Thursday challenge from Create with Connie and Mary has some great fall colors this week.  When looking at them, the Among the Branches Bundle stood out to me.

Autumn Wishes with woodland ef

The Soft Suede base embossed with the Woodland EF is a perfect background for fall leaves.  I did one in gold and one in Mossy Meadow.  Over top I added in the sentiment and a bit of linen thread.

Woodland Embossing Folder becreativewithnicole.com

As usual I added in a few sequins and stamped the envelope to compete the card.

Stop back tomorrow for my first Christmas card of the season.  I have been a busy little bee making Christmas cards that I can’t wait to share!
