Botanical Blooms

Do you over think things??  And stress yourself out??  Sometimes I am guilty of that very thing when it comes to making cards.  That’s one of the reasons I am so in love with the whole CLEAN AND SIMPLE card design.  Simple can be beautiful!

The first time I sat down with the BOTANICAL BLOOMS stamp set and coordinating BOTANICAL BUILDER FRAMELITS, my mind was BLANK with a capital B.  I had seen so many great ideas already that I didn’t know where to go with it!  THEN I took a breath and said “keep it simple!”

Today I have a great example of simple cards made with this gorgeous bundle.  I hope it inspires you!

Botanical Blooms becreativewithnicole

Just because it’s a floral set doesn’t mean it is completely a “girly” stamp set.  The leaves are so beautiful and can easily take center stage!

Botanical Bloom

All the cards are monochromatic with Mossy Meadow ink for the sentiment and the background.  The gorgeous giant leaf on this card both makes a statement and blends in.

Botanical Blooms changed up becreativewithnicole

Once you have a design you like, USE IT!  Change things up a little but use the same basic design that works for you.  For these 3×3 cards, I simple changed the sentiments using PERFECT PAIRINGS and flipped the design elements to the other side.  A couple of simple changes, yet it gives you a new look!

Botanical Blooms becreativewithnicole

SO.  Are you ready to give this stamp set a new look??  It’s a very versatile set when you look at it in a new light!  Give the masculine side a try like I did!!  In fact, for the MARCH MINI SESSION from Create with Connie and Mary, I did a card set with the BOTANICAL BLOOMS Bundle that I think you’ll really enjoy!  I made some beautiful girly cards and threw in a masculine one as a twist.  I also added a BONUS CARD IDEA by showing you how to change the masculine card into a feminine one with just a few additions.  ARE YOU READY TO JOIN THE FUN??  Head over to CREATE WITH CONNIE AND MARY for all the details, I hope you’ll join us!

Coral Botanical Bloom

The new BOTANICAL BLOOMS BUNDLE has a lot going on with it’s gorgeous flowers and leaves but is it something to use for a clean and simple card??  The answer is YES!

You're Awesome by becreativewithnicole.com

I took just one leaf and one flower to create a crisp and clean card for a friend.

botanical bloom

This particular flower from the BOTANICAL BUILDER framelits is my favorite by far!  I love the dimension you get with two layers of petals.  I gave them life by taking my stylus and paper piercing mat and rolling over the petals so they’d curl.  I wanted the flower to really stand out, so the Pear Pizzaz leaf was stamped on the card before adding the flower.  It compliments the Calypso Coral bloom beautifully!

You're Awesome

Along with the simple flower is a simple sentiment.  I isolated part of a stamp from BOTANICALS FOR YOU and added it to the card with BLACK ARCHIVAL INK.  Using black ink really makes the sentiment stand out from the flower.  I think it’s the ink I used most lately, it’s a real must have!

A Nice Pot of Tea

Another challenge we had for the Creative Crew this month was to make a card with a positive /negative design.  Can you guess what I made……..

Teariffic by becreativewithnicole.com

If you guessed a shaker you were right!  It’s been awhile since I’ve made a shaker so this was the first thing that came to mind!  A Nice Cuppa and the coordinating Cups & Kettle Framelits made this a tea-riffic shaker card!

tea shaker

I wanted it to look like you were pouring a cup of tea, so I used gold microbeads inside the tea pot.  I also added a few sequins under the spout to look like the tea was pouring out.

tea riffic shaker by becreativewithnicole.com

This is such a fun stamp and framelit set!  You can get them both for 15% off when you purchase the bundle….isn’t that fantastic!!  They work together beautifully as the framelits have some things that you don’t get in the stamp set.  So many ways to use these!

Occasions Catalog Favorite

Welcome to the CREATION STATION BLOG HOP!  This month we are all about the new OCCASIONS CATALOG!  Are you ready for lots of fabulous ideas with NEW STAMPS?  I know I am!  The new catalog goes live January 5th so get your pen and paper ready to make a wish list!

creation station hop header

One of my favorite sets in the Occasions Catalog is PLAYFUL PALS which can be bundled with a set of thinlits called PYRAMID PALS.

Playful Pals bundle becreativewithnicole.com

Is this too cute or what!!  I loved this bundle as soon as I saw it, brings out the kid in me!  I can’t wait to make lots of cute animals and cards!

Playful Pals by becreativewithnicole.com

I started out with a baby card featuring a cute little owl peeking out from behind the sentiment.  The giant “hello” happens to be a favorite of mine from a Sale-a-bration set called HELLO.  It’s a fabulous set to compliment other stamps and is just as fun to use on it’s own.  Here I combined it with “baby” from CELEBRATE TODAY to create a sweet baby sentiment.

Pyramid Pals by becreativewithnicole.com

I couldn’t wait to move onto the thinlits to make this adorable little owl to compliment the card.  Wouldn’t this little guy be the cutest party favor at a baby shower!!  I constructed him leaving one side unsealed so you could tuck some candy inside and open it easily.

Playful Pals bundle becreativewithnicole.com

I hope I brought out the kid in you today and that you think this duo is as fun and sweet as I do!  Now it’s time to move on and see more favorites from the very talented ladies in this group.  Up next is Sara and I can’t wait to see what’s she’s made!  Be sure to hop all the way around, I know you’ll want to see all of the fabulous ideas!

More Blackberry Bliss

Wednesday I shared a Blackberry Bliss beauty featuring the JINGLE ALL THE WAY BUNDLE.  Well, I’m back with another version of that card today.

Blackberry sleigh ride becreativewithnicole.com

As with the other Jingle All the Way card, I brayered a Blackberry Bliss background.  I love the beautiful night sky this color makes.

Close up blackberry bliss

I added Santa and his sleigh to the night sky and a little snowy village with Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.

Blackberry Bliss sleigh ride

I went bolder for the sentiment this time using a Blackberry Bliss die cut.  It really pops against the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper.  Such a lovely card and it was so easy to make!  My poor brayer is getting worn out with all these Blackberry Bliss cards.  I think I will have to switch it up and start with another color before I wear out my Blackberry ink pad!

Tomorrow I am switching gears and bringing you something other than Blackberry Bliss….gasp!  I think you’ll enjoy this card though, so be sure to stop back for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop.

Fall Owl

Lately I’ve been showing you different ways to use your holiday stamps to get the most from them.  Today let’s look at another way to use the HOWL-O-WEEN TREAT BUNDLE.

Fall Owl by becreativewithnicole.com

Isn’t this perfect for fall!  Changing up the colors is a great way to change the feel of your stamps.  INTO THE WOODS designer series paper added a pop of color to the neutral Soft Suede that was used for the card base and owl.

Fall owl

FOR ALL THINGS from the main catalog provided a great sentiment and also a little background stamping behind the designer paper.  I used Mossy Meadow on Pear Pizzaz for “hello fall” to stand from the owl.

Fall Owl becreativewithnicole.com

And as always, I added in sequins…they always make a card better!

Sparkly Fall Season

I finally got a chance to sit down with SPARKLY SEASONS and try out an idea I’ve been thinking of.

Fall globe by becreativewithnicole.com

I love the globe in this set, but I’m not quite ready to jump into Christmas cards yet. So I went with a fall look by adding in a stamp from HAPPY SCENES.  This would be a wonderful shaker too, may have to do that for next week!

Inside fall card by becreativewithnicole.com

For today’s card I envisioned the scene on the inside showing through the globe.  I simply die cut the front of the card with the circle framelit from the SEASONAL FRAMES THINLITS that coordinate with SPARKLY SEASONS.  It’s one of the awesome bundles offered which is a great way to get products at a discount!

Sparkly Seasons Bundle

Inside fall scene

The scene is stamped with Soft Suede and colored with markers.  I added in a little sponging as well to give a bit of green grass and blue sky.  I added a small square of window sheet over the opening to give it more of a globe look.  To make the inside of the card look nice and neat, I added washi tape along the edges so no adhesive showed.  You can see a little peek of it in the second picture where I showed the inside.

Fall scene

When the card is closed, you can only see the fall scene.  The sentiment ends up a surprise when you open the card.

I hope you enjoyed my idea for combining two of the holiday stamp sets!  I think this is a winner!  If you’d like to order supplies to make your own, click HERE to shop in my online store!  Use October hostess code EWESB2DG and I will send you a card like this in the mail as a thank you.  Be sure to allow contact so I can have your mailing address, if you mark “no contact” I won’t know who you are!  If your order is $150 or more don’t use the code, you will get hostess benefits.  Please feel free to ask questions if you need help!
