Spooky Fun Mini Treat Bag

Today’s idea is one that I’ve been thinking about for a few days now and finally got a chance to make last night.  I’ve combined SPOOKY FUN with a MINI TREAT BAG to create a Halloween card.

Have you notice that I’m a bit obsessed with the MINI TREAT BAG cards???  I think this is the third one this week….but they are just so fun to create!

spooky-fun-mini-treat-bag-card-becreativewithnicole-com

I thought it would be cool to have a scene inside the treat bag that you can see through the window.  I used vellum card stock to show a little preview of what’s inside.  If you look closely you can see the shadow of the tree through the window.

spooky-fun-window

The brick wall paper from the HALLOWEEN NIGHT DSP was the perfect design for the card.  I kept the outside pretty simple with just a few pumpkins and a sentiment.  The real fun is inside!

Instead of ribbon or some sort of tab, I used the moon and witch to pull the card out….way too fun!  That little gem of an idea came at the very last minute as I was looking for one more element to finish off the card.

spooky-fun

With the coordinating die cuts, this all came together so easily!  I only had to add a little bit of stamping…this really only took me about 25 minutes or so from start to finish!  My favorite die cut from this is the spooky tree….it really sold me on this bundle.  What do you think?  Do you prefer stamps that have a coordinating set of die cuts?

I hope you enjoyed this tidbit of Halloween inspiration today!  Tomorrow I will have a fall idea for you as will the rest of the Create with Connie and Mary Design Team for our regular Saturday Blog Hop.

Color Fusers Blog Hop: September 2016 – Part 1

Welcome to the first week of the September COLOR FUSE BLOG HOP!  Twice a month on the first and third Monday’s we’ll be bringing you inspiration through color!  September’s hops will feature four gorgeous colors.

color fusers sept 2016

I picked a stamp set you may not have thought of for this set of colors.

Live Love Grow Mini Treat Bag becreativewithnicole.com

LIVE, LOVE, GROW is a favorite of mine!  I just love the sweet succulents and sentiments.  I know you would typically think of this set being in neutrals and greens, but I love the idea of throwing in a Sweet Sugarplum succulent along with the Mint Macaron plants.

Live Love Grow becreativewithnicole.com

To make this a beautiful but functional card, I added a birthday greeting inside along with a couple more succulents.

Live Love Grow

Let’s delve into the nitty gritty and talk about how all the colors from the challenge were used.  Obviously I love SWEET SUGARPLUM, I used it for the card base and one of the succulent plants.  It’s a great light purple that reminds me of the old Pale Plum that Stampin’ Up! had years ago when I first started stamping.  MINT MACARON comes into play with the other plants.  This pale green is such a lovely color and is a great stand out against the plum.  I added in the other two colors as accents.  FLIRTY FLAMINGO is used only with the ribbon for the inside card and the die cut “love” in my sentiment.  It works really well with the card and really adds that little bit of contrast that was needed.  Lastly, RICH RAZZLEBERRY was used with the small flowers on the largest plant.  I used the TREE BUILDER PUNCH to get the tiny flower that would work with the size plants in my terrarium.

Live Love Grow inside card

The inside is embellished a little with the lovely plants and a fun birthday greeting that is a combination of SUNSHINE SAYINGS and LIVE,LOVE,GROW.

Live Love Grow becreativewithnicole.com

If you haven’t tried these MINI TREAT BAG cards, I highly encourage you to!  They are a bit smaller than a typical card so even though they are more 3D, they still fit into the Stampin’ Up! envelopes.  It’s a great way to step up you card making for the WOW factor.  If you’d like to give this style of card a try, check out the supply list below and click on any of the items you would like to order or know more about.

Galaxy Watercolor Technique

Thank you for all the great comments and e-mails about the Galaxy Watercolor cards that I shared yesterday!  I am so glad you all loved this fun technique as much as I do!

Shooting Star becreativewithnicole.com

Here’s the two cards I shared again with this awesome technique.  I have a few pictures to show you how I did this technique with Stampin’ Up! products.  I want to give a shout out to Wendy Cranford who shared this idea on her blog.

Let’s get started!  You will need the following:
Product List

Galaxy watercolor 1

Lay out your watercolor paper and make sure your aqua painter is full of water, you will need it plus more!  On the left side of the watercolor paper you can see the first layer of color that I made.  Take your ink pads, one by one and add splotches of color all over the paper.  Try not to have the colors bleed too much, you don’t want to muddy your nice bright colors.  You will cover the entire page with color splotches of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry.  With each of the ink pads, transfer color to the lid and add color to the watercolor paper with the aqua painter.

Once all of the colors are down on the paper, you will start in with the Night of Navy ink OVER TOP.  You want to add a drop or two of re inker to the lid of the Night of Navy ink pad, you will need lots of color.  I added quite a bit of water to the lid as well so the ink will flow over the watercolor paper.  NOTE: Before you add this layer of Night of Navy, make sure your paper is dried from the first layer of color.

Galaxy Watercolor 2

Add Night of Navy ink with the aqua painter over your splotches of color leaving some areas darker than others.  I actually added TWO layers of navy, letting the first layer of color dry well before adding the second.  That’s how I got the nice dark galaxy look that still has a little color showing through.

Once your paper is dry, you will be at the last step.  Get a little bit of Whisper White craft ink in the lid of you ink pad.  Add a little water and use a regular paint brush to splatter white spots over the paper.  This completes the galaxy look.

Galaxy Watercolor 3

Now you are ready to cut up you paper into the pieces you will need for you cards.  I hope you’ll give this a try, it is a really cool technique!  You can see the video that I watched by Wendy Cranford.  Just use Night of Navy ink for the one step that she used black watercolor ink.  Please let me know if you have any questions and I would love to see what you create!

Shooting Star becreativewithnicole.com

Did you know that I did SHOOTING STAR for my card set in the June Mini Session from Create with Connie and Mary??  Yep, 4 cards with this awesome set.  AND, guess what’s already been released that you should check out……….the AUGUST MINI SESSION!  We have 5FULL TUTORIALS for you with new stamps from the Annual Catalog PLUS a BONUS card set with the upcoming holiday set STAR OF LIGHT.

Color Fusers Blog Hop: July 2016 – Part 2

Welcome to the 2nd COLOR FUSE BLOG HOP!  Twice a month on the first and third Monday’s we’ll be bringing you inspiration through color!  July’s hops will feature three gorgeous In Colors.

Color Fuse July Logo

I almost went with a floral card, but I wanted to try using these colors in a different way.

Balloon Celebration by becreativewithnicole.com

I haven’t used BALLOON CELEBRATION much and it was calling out to me, so I gave it a try in a clean and simple way.

Balloon Celebration becreativewithnicole

I used bold black and white striped paper for a pop against the Peekaboo Peach card base.  The balloons are done with Flirty Flamingo with the black outline making them stand out nicely.  My favorite little detail though, is the pop of Cucumber Crush in the sentiment.  I love that unexpected bit of color at the end.

Balloon Celebration by becreativewithnicole.com

I hope you enjoyed this unusual idea with the color combo for July.  These three gorgeous colors are must haves to work with!  Are you ready for more inspiration??  Let’s move on to the rest of the Color Fusers Design Team and see what awesomeness they have for us today!  Just follow the links below and enjoy all the inspiration!

Sweet Cupcake

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop!  This week we are featuring our favorite new stamp set from the new catalog.

The SWEET CUPCAKE BUNDLE was the first thing on my wish list after seeing the new catalog.  I simply love the realistic look of these yummy cupcakes!  And with the bundle you get coordinating framelits so no fussy cutting!

Sweet Cupcake becreativewithnicole.com

The biggest thing to decide when creating these cupcakes was the colors.  You want three distinct layers of color for both the icing and cupcake.

Sweet Cupcake

This cupcake is chocolate, so I layered Sahara Sand, Tip top Taupe and Soft Suede.  For a fun yummy frosting I went with Soft Sky, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.  All of these colors are favorites for me, especially Bermuda Bay.

Sweet Cupcake by becreativewithnicole.com

To go along with the chocolate cupcake, I went with a Soft Suede card base and a gorgeous gold polka dot paper.  I got the gold polka dots from the beautiful POP OF PINK SPECIALTY DSP.  This is such a a fabulous paper that I didn’t add any other bling, although I did test out Bermuda Bay Sequins…it was just better without.  Sometimes less is definitely more!  Speaking of MORE, have you subscribed to the July Mini Session yet??  If you haven’t you are missing out!

Foxy Friends

I am so loving the fun and sweet stamp set FOXY FRIENDS.  Not only does it have cute little critters that you can stamp, but there is a coordinating PUNCH!  I actually used this fun bundle for my 3D project for the JULY MINI SESSION from Create with Connie and Mary.  It’s so stinkin’ cute, I just love it!  I hope you’ll join us for this month’s session, we have 5 full tutorials for you with all new stamps!  Click HERE to find out more and subscribe!

July Collage

Now, how about a cute birthday card idea with this set??

Foxy Friends becreativwithnicole.com

So fun, right??!!  It was easy to put together since there is also a coordinating designer paper!  And this A LITTLE FOXY Designer Series Paper is so cute you really need to get all three products to create with.

Foxy Friends by becreativewithnicole

I added in a couple of different greetings to make this work.  The first is the die cut “happy” from HELLO YOU THINLITS.  I used Basic Gray cardstock for the die cut so it would stand out against the polka dot paper.  The fun little banner was a sentiment from the hostess set TIME OF YEAR.  I love that the banners in this set coordinate with the BUNCH OF BANNERS Framelits. It’s nice to have a crisp clean look without any fussy cutting!

Foxy Friends becreativwithnicole.com

As always the envelope coordinates.  I also stamped the inside so this card is ready to go for the next birthday.

Don’t forget to check out the information about the JULY MINI SESSION.  We have a special offer for you if you sign up for the August Session as well, you get a BONUS PROJECT!  You won’t want to miss this!!
