Do you ever find a set that you just have to have?? Well, In the Trees was one of those sets for me. I saw it in the Spring Occasions Catalog and knew I had to have it. It’s a darling set that is amazing for water color. I sat down with it this weekend and created a card set that I think you’ll enjoy as much as I have.
See what I mean! I just love the water color look with this gorgeous tree!
It all started with the idea to make little cards to put in the card box you can make with the Lots to Love Box Framelits on page 19. The first two cards feature Berry Burst which is one of my favorite In Colors. All the images were heat embossed them water colored with an aqua painter and ink re-fills.
A second set of the same design were done in my other favorite In Color, Lemon Lime Twist. Each of the four cards have a different sentiment so there is versatility.
The box itself is made from water color paper so it’s quite sturdy. All four cards fit nicely. I love how sweet this set it and can’t wait to include these cards with little gifts. Here’s some details so you can create your own set.
Card size is 4 1/2″ x 2 3/4″. The card base for each is 2 3/4″ x 9″, scored at 4 1/2″. The four cards fit inside the box. I made envelopes using the Envelope Punch Board with the following measurements : 6 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ score at 2 1/2″. The envelopes are the same width as the box so they do not fit inside.
The Lots to Love Framelits are so versatile! Think of all the great card sets and treats you can make with this box! Also, there is a note card set that fits perfectly inside, Whisper White Narrow Note Cards and envelope set. Click on the link below to get the supplies to make your own set of In the Trees cards!!
I have found a new obsession….the amazing Waterfront stamp set. I did lots of looking through Pinterest to see ideas before I gave this set a try. I was a little intimidated since the set is so abstract. But let me tell you, I just can’t stop now that I’ve started stamping! And yes, I have made some horrible looking things and pitched them, but I’ve also done some beautiful ones as well.
This one started out with the Ohio sunset as inspiration. At night lately I’ve been noticing the sky has tones of lavender and pink right before the sun goes down. So I looked to my Stampin’ Up! colors and pulled out Wisteria Wonder, Fresh Fig and Powder Pink to try to re-create what I’ve seen.
The left side is a layered with my pinks and purples moving in on the blue sky on the right done in Pool Party. I took an aqua painter to soften the lines and mellow things out. Then added the sunset in Pumpkin Pie and the hills in Smokey Slate.
I went through my stamps to look for the right sentiment. I wanted this card to be useful for anything, so I pulled “dream without limits, love without fear” from Picture Perfect.
I couldn’t stop there and leave the inside blank. So I added soft hills in Smokey Slate and a few Pool Party clouds with a Peekaboo Peach sunset.
With all the ideas out there for Waterfront, I hope you enjoyed my Ohio sunset! We do have the most beautiful evening skies and now that I am newly obsessed with this set, I will be paying more attention. You may be seeing more variations of this in the future!
The Barn Door Bundle has some wonderful greetings as you saw in last week’s post. But sometimes I like to mix things up add in different stamp sets. In today’s card I used sentiments and flowers from the beautiful stamp set Happy Birthday Gorgeous.
What a fun birthday card to give! It has a both sentiments on the front of the card so the inside has plenty of room for writing a note.
This card was actually inspired by the February My Paper Pumpkin. If you look closely, you can see the card base and the card front are from the kit. I loved the subtle striped design plus it was easy! The pieces were ready to go!
I hope you give this idea a try and do a little mixing and matching with your stamp sets…including My Paper Pumpkin!

If you haven’t tried out the BARN DOOR BUNDLE yet you are missing out! I got this bundle right away then sadly let it sit on the shelf until yesterday. Oh my goodness……I had so much fun trying out different ways to put together cards with this AMAZING sliding barn door! Today’s example is pretty much what you’ve been seeing, but I did do something a little different. Let’s take a look!
Can you tell what I did that is different?? It’s pretty subtle but I love the look. I stamped the door on Whisper White with Memento Ink and colored it with blendies to give a more rustic look.
With a closer look you can see the variances in color that make the door look more authentic! It does require more effort, but well worth the time!
When the door slides across the magic happens and the second greeting is revealed!!
So if you have been like me and left this bundle sitting on the shelf, stop waiting!!! I promise you will enjoy every minute with this bundle!
A couple more ideas will be coming up soon, I have a few ideas brewing as we speak! Thanks so much for visiting and I quite excited to be back to blogging again!
Just like with the last sketch challenge, I used this idea to get ready for Mother’s Day. The stamp set of choice for today is EVERYDAY HERO.
This is perfect for my Mom, she really is a super hero to me! She’ll love the bright bold colors and sentiment, a great way to say how awesome she is.
The super mom is colored with watercolor pencils to get the bolder colors. I added in extra wow factor with the stars from STAR BLAST EDGELITS as a backdrop, love the burst of Daffodil Delight! And the sentiment is heat embossed in white on the Pacific Point to make it stand out as well.
Lots of bold colors today! I hope you enjoyed the inspiration, there’s lots more where it came from! Just go to Create with Connie and Mary to check out the cards by all of the Design Team.
There are several bundles from the Occasions Catalog that I have yet to work with. So for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge, I pulled out the DRAGONFLY DREAMS Bundle for my card. But before I get too far ahead, let’s take a look at the colors we are featuring this week.
Beautiful combination, don’t you think?? I wanted a soft watercolor look to go with DRAGONFLY DREAMS so I paired it up with products from the April My Paper Pumpkin.
I used the card base and one of the watercolor papers from the kit. Everything else was from my regular stash of products.
The water coloring shows off all three of our colors this week. I used my aqua painter and ink pads to create the look. I also added color to the rest of the background, a little bit of Island Indigo. I used that same color for the dragonfly die cuts and added a bit of Wink of Stella to each to make them sparkle.
The inside of the card had to be embellished as well. The stamps from the kit along with the washi tape worked out beautifully. The Mother’s Day sentiment on the front of the card was pulled from Oh So Succulent, I thought it was a wonderful greeting to go along with the MPP stamps. Nice to get a head start on Mother’s Day this year!

So many ways to be creative with this sketch!! My little guy is turning 4 this month so I used the challenge to get ready for this birthday with the Balloon Adventure Bundle.
Lots of bright colors, perfect for Sammy! I even went crazy and stamped all over the inside to make the card extra special.
